CHAPTER X
EVERYBODY HAS A DREAM
There is a consciousness mind cannot touch, Its speech cannot utter, nor its thought reveal. It has no home on earth, no center in man, Yet is the source of all things thought and done. The fount of the creation and its works.
It is the originer of all truth here.
The sun-orb of mindâs fragmentary rays,
Infinityâs heaven that spills the rain of God. The Immense that calls to man to expand the spirit, The wide Aim that justifies his narrow attempts, A channel for the little he tastes of bliss.
Sri Aurobindo's 'Savitri'
To realize and unite oneself with the active Brahman is to exchange perfectly or imperfectly as the union is partial or complete the individual for the cosmic consciousness.
One arrives at that, becomes that, whether by breaking the walls of the ego, by identifying oneself with all existence in the One, or else from above by realizing the pure self or absolute Existence in its outgoing, immanent, all embracing, all constituting self knowledge and self creative power.
It is as the immanent silent self in all that the foundation of this cosmic consciousness can most easily be laid by the mental being. The Witness is pure and omnipresent who regards all the activities of the universe as the Conscious Soul of the Cosmos, Satchidananda, for whom Nature displays the eternal procession of her works.
Sat: He is beyond the conception of space, time and causality that he creates phenomenally as the conditions of manifestation. There is no cause for this existence, no object, no increase, no decrease, and no change. It is not subject to time, causality, space. He alone is. Nothing else exists. He must necessarily exist by Himself, in Himself, to Himself. He is absolute existence.
Chit: We are not conscious of external objects, only of certain perceptions and impressions as this are all being can grasp of external things. Consciousness is the fundamental thing from which all existence proceeds. All things are but the distortion of the absolute consciousness. All sentience is ultimately self-sentience, sat/chit, sentience in the condition of existence. Transcendental existence is one and simple without parts. Consciousness therefore does not proceed by the same laws as our individual consciousness. Consciousness does not proceed by differentiating subject from object, knower from known, but simply is by its pure right of unqualified existence.
Ananda: Where there is no limitation there is no pain. The Bliss of Brahman is therefore absolute in its nature.
If we can by the mind and heart get at the truth of the spirit, receive the powerful descent of the divine into this lower humanity and change our nature into a reflection of the divine nature, we can break down the walls of ego.
The complete realization of unity is therefore the essence of the integral knowledge and of the integral yoga.
(From Jim Beanâs notes on Sri Aurobindoâs âSynthesis of Yogaâ)
ROSLYN went back to the studio, to tea with Frankie and Suzanne,
who agreed that meeting Skylar and finding the letters from Mother was a clear sign that she had been sent to Bidonville to help start Bindoville.
